Before you post

Advert permissions may vary by account, category and timing. Private sellers may currently post up to five adverts per day.

01

Changes to this policy

eCayTrade reserves the right to alter the Posting Policy as it pertains to Adverts, User Comments, Reviews and any other method of content submission at any time without having to inform users, whether private or commercial, in advance of the alteration.

02

Illegal and restricted items

Items deemed illegal by the Government and/or Government agencies for sale in the Islands are also deemed illegal for sale on eCayTrade. Some industries are restricted as per local legislation and lobby groups, including but not restricted to the sale of animals.

eCayTrade works closely with on-Island groups to help foster a positive environment for animals and will restrict adverts offering animals for sale that are not posted by licensed breeders.

03

Posting-volume limits

Currently eCayTrade restricts the volume of adverts any single account can place within specific timeframes.

If eCayTrade finds that you have posted a large volume of adverts in a short period of time, the POST AD Function button will be disabled.

Private seller limit 5 adverts per day

If you need to post more adverts than you are allowed, please contact us at info@ecaytrade.com. If the posting control is disabled, log out and come back later in the day.

eCayTrade implements this variable policy across the site along different parameters depending on Category, Account Holder, User Feedback and other considerations. Above all, this policy is in place to enable eCayTrade to provide a varied and user-friendly marketplace for all.

04

Review the terms and conditions

eCayTrade recommends you frequently review the Terms and Conditions of the website as they can and do change without any obligation on the part of eCayTrade to communicate such changes to users.

05

Private and commercial sellers

eCayTrade provides an online platform for private and commercial sellers, and therefore the Posting Policy for private sellers will be different from the Posting Policy for some and/or all of our Commercial Sellers.

06

Commercial policy parameters

Some of our Commercial Sellers may not all share the same Posting Policy parameters as each other and eCayTrade reserves the right to amend Posting Policies as it deems necessary.

07

Posting permissions

On occasion, eCayTrade may restrict Posting permissions by category, service, user account and other parameters as it sees fit, including but not limited to geographical and/or chronological considerations.

08

Prohibited listing

Sale of dogs

The sale of dogs is strictly prohibited on eCay. Any listings attempting to sell dogs will be removed, and users who violate this policy may be blocked from the platform. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping eCay a responsible marketplace.

09

Prohibited content

Use of Cayman Islands currency imagery

The use and reproduction of the Cayman Islands currency and its image is restricted under the Monetary Authority Act (2020 Revision), with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) having the sole right of issuing legal tender notes and coins in the Cayman Islands on behalf of the Cayman Islands Government. It is also an offence under Section 311 of the Penal Code (2024 Revision) to sell articles bearing designs in imitation of currency, without lawful authority.

eCayTrade is obligated to uphold these laws and to cooperate fully with CIMA. Therefore, persons who wish to reproduce or use an image of CI currency must first obtain written consent from CIMA in accordance with the Currency Reproduction Guidelines and Use of Images published on its website.

As part of our commitment to comply with the laws of the Cayman Islands and to maintain the integrity of our platform and the Cayman Islands currency, eCayTrade strictly prohibits the posting or sale of any item that reproduces or imitates Cayman Islands currency, including but not limited to banknotes and coins, without express written consent from CIMA.

These include

  • Items that bear the image or likeness of any Cayman Islands banknote or coin.
  • Replicas, collectibles, novelty items, or promotional materials using local currency imagery.
  • Any other items that may be considered as imitating or reproducing legal tender currently or previously in circulation.

Policy enforcement

  • Any listings found in violation of this policy will be removed immediately.
  • The user responsible for the listing may be contacted and/or restricted from posting further content of this nature.
  • Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination.

Unsure whether an item is permitted?

Contact eCay support before posting. Describe the item and include any written CIMA consent that applies.
